This beautiful beamed country pub steeped in history was built in the 1470’s as a dry-moated farmhouse for the prominent Dering Family, with 5 log burning fires throughout the bar and restaurant. Ideally sited for breathtaking walks around Pluckley and beyond. The pub is also well known for its many ghosts, one of which being an invisible phantom who makes himself known by moving both glasses and possessions around the pub -which can go missing for days on end. Many customers have felt or seen the presence of a small child. This long history of happenings has been experienced by both the landlady & landlord, and customers throughout the pub’s rich history.
Rambling, cycling, coach tours and paranormal investigation groups are welcome. Discounts and tailored packages are available on booking.
We’re dog-friendly with a large garden overlooking the village square and miles of rolling landscape beyond.
We have a huge beer garden and BBQ area ideal for private functions and are situated on the highest point of Pluckley hosting beautiful views of our surrounding perfick countryside. We also boast a large car/coach park which makes us a perfect place for weary travellers to take a break. Beyond our rear car park is the well-kept cricket pitch and play park, from which a public footpath passes through beautiful orchards.
Inside the pub there are cosy corners to escape to and a traditional open bar, with beamed ceilings and an open log fire during the cold weather to keep everyone warm.
