Are you new to the area and keen to make new friends? Been here for years and longing to try something new? Or perhaps you’d love to ‘give something back’ but don’t know how, what or who with?
The pressures on women are high (be it work, children, caring for loved ones, looking right and being perfect to name a few). Pluckley Women’s Collective is about having a regular slot in the diary to relax, have fun and be yourself with the women who are local to you. It’ll involve a myriad of activities from supper nights, craft, Go Ape, wine tasting, singing workshops, wreath making, walks, fundraising plus events for all the family. You don’t need to make a perfect Victoria Sponge, know how to crochet or have won garden of the year. If you’re over 18 and a woman, you’re in!
Happy New Year!
Hope you all had a relaxing and fun Christmas with family & friends. I’m writing with news of all that is coming up over the next couple months.
Our January Gathering will be at Sarah Emberson’s Place – The Shaw on Surrenden Rd. We are having a Great British Bake Off Special from 3pm on Saturday 21st. You can enter the ‘Showstopper Cup Cake Challenge’ (on your own or with a friend)- bring along at least 6 cupcakes that showcase a Kentish Ingredient. We’ll have a special guest judge and the winner will get a very special Mary Berry Cake Stand! If you can’t bake, don’t worry – bring along your best ever shop bought cupcakes and see if anyone guesses 😉 Remember PWC is about having a go, not being perfect – we’ll all enjoy eating your cakes even if they’re a showstopper for all the wrong reasons… We’ll also have a quiz, drink prosecco, do a little team technical challenge and generally have a fun afternoon. Let us know if you’re coming, it’ll be £5 on the door.
In February, we have our ‘Pluckley Sings’ event running on Saturday 11th from 10-3.30pm. We are delighted to have the fun loving Chris & Nic Kimmance, musical directors of the very successful Ashford Sings Community Choir coming to lead us in a singing workshop for the day. This event is for men and women, children, anyone & everyone, the more the merrier. We’ll start at 10am with coffee and sing through the day with plenty of breaks for refreshment & lunch. At 2.30pm we’re inviting people to come and listen to a mini performance to show off our day’s work – over tea & cake. If you enjoy singing, come! You don’t have to be good, you don’t need any choir experience or musical ability, you won’t have to sing a solo, read music or audition, it’s about getting the community together to have a fun & inspiring day. The cost is £10 which includes lunch – if you bring a friend who isn’t on the PWC list (including the men in your life!) you’ll both get in for £15. Please let us know if you’re coming so we can cater appropriately and invite your neighbours & friends!
That’s it for now – really excited for these upcoming events and looking forward to seeing you
