Pluckley Parish Council

The Parish Council consists of nine councillors and is assisted by the Clerk - and our job is to represent the interests of the village and its residents to both the local council (Ashford Borough Council) and the county council. We're also responsible for looking after and maintaining public facilities such as the village hall, recreation ground, sports pavilion and tennis courts.

All meetings of Pluckley Parish Council are open to the public. Everyone is welcome to come along. The full council meeting is on the third Monday of each month at 8pm in the village hall. An agenda is displayed in the village a minimum of three working days before each meeting. On the agenda is a ‘public session’ – this usually lasts 10 minutes and allows any residents to address the meeting. The minutes of each meeting are also available for the public to look at.

As well as attending monthly council meetings, councillors regularly attend meetings of Ashford Borough Council’s Parish Forum, Weald Police Forum, Kent Association of Local Councils.

In 2008, the Parish Council conducted a survey around the village. We called it the Village Appraisal, and we asked residents what they liked and disliked about living in Pluckley - and what they would like to change. This survey, and a subsequent workshop, are the basis of our Parish Plan, which was published in December 2009. In July 2009, we set up a series of working groups, tasked with finding solutions to many of the problems and issues outlined in that plan.

And most of all, you can contact us. Because that's what we're here for!
