13] The Dering Arms
Standing at the approach to the village
station, these premises were originally a hunting lodge. The owners
share their home with the ghost of an old lady who seats herself
at a table by the window through which she seemingly views the world
outside. So clearly has she appeared that she could quite easily
have been mistaken for a flesh and blood customer but for the peculiar
bonnet and old-fashioned dress she wore - plus the fact that she
vanished on the spot immediately her presence was commented on.
Although this lady has appeared enough
times to be accepted as part of the furniture she has never been
included in Pluckley's inventory of established ghosts.
