Halloween in Pluckley On 31 October 2008 there will be a large police presence in the village. There will be no entertainment provided for visitors. There will be no BBQ, nor Hog Roast, nor Beer tent, nor Fun Fair. There will be no Ghost Tours. In fact, unless you are coming for a quiet drink, may we suggest you visit one of the many other attractions in Kent for Halloween? Whether you believe in them or not, Pluckley has the reputation of being the most haunted village in England (Guinness Book of Records 1998). This record is what attracts people to the village at Halloween: all expecting to see something 'spooky.' If you are intending to do a little psychic research please note that the majority of sites are private residences and the owners do not welcome ghost hunters. But let's be honest - no self-respecting ghost would be seen dead at Halloween amongst so many earthbound visitors all anticipating a performance in the Black Horse, churchyard, or along the roads. Below is a selection of sites to be found on the web.
