The three public
houses in the village cater for a range of tastes, although a quarter
of residents say they never visit a pub in Pluckley. All have restaurant
facilities and serve real ales.
The Black
Horse, built in 1450, opened as a public house in 1474, although
at one time it was situated in another building adjacent to the
church. Occupying a favourable spot in the village square, it recently
found fame after featuring in The Darling Buds of May and also attracts
visiting ghost hunters. It underwent extensive refurbishment during
autumn 1999. |

The Dering Arms, a
hunting lodge for the Dering family in the 1840's, was once connected by
underground passages to other parts of the Dering estate. Having opened
as an inn around the turn of the century, it is popular with commuters due
to its closeness to the railway station.
The Rose and Crown
at Mundy Bois, a public house since 1780. The restaurant built around
20 years ago enjoys marvellous views of the church on the hill. The pub
stands 1.5 miles out of the village. It has recently been renamed 'The Mundy Bois' |
